Procedures of Practicum

Before I was sent to Indonesia, the entire journey underwent a well-organized process, with each step carefully planned to ensure the program's success. From the preparations and send-off here in the Philippines to the closing ceremony in Bengkulu.
It all began when I received the incredible news that I was one of the students recommended by our Faculty at FEU Roosevelt to join the SEA-Teacher Program.

And then, during the welcome event for the Indonesian exchange students, we were also introduced as the students selected to go to Bengkulu, marking the official start of our exciting journey...

After that, we had an orientation with our SEA-Teacher Coordinating Teacher from FEU Roosevelt, Ma'am Dena Culaba. She made sure we had all the necessary documents and walked us through the important details we needed to know. Just a few days later, we joined an online orientation with Ms. Lenni Mantili, the SEA-Teacher Coordinating Teacher from the University of Bengkulu.

Then, fast forward—we arrived in Bengkulu, Indonesia! It was such an exciting moment as we finally met Ms. Lenni in person, and everything began to sink in... This was the real start of our sail in Bengkulu! 🌊

The next day, Ms. Lenni and Ma'am Lia, my mentor, took me to SMAN 5 Kota Bengkulu, the school where I was assigned to observe and teach. I had a short introduction there, I met their school officials, and it was here that I finally met my Coordinating Teacher, Sir Mulyarman.

Then, during my first days, all I did was observe classes. This was incredibly helpful as it gave me a deeper understanding of their school culture, teaching practices, and how lessons are conducted in their schools.
After a few days, I was finally assigned to facilitate classes, and it was such a fun and exciting experience!

Days passed, and it was time to prepare our lesson plans for my Final Teaching demonstration. With the guidance of my mentor and coordinating teacher, I was able to craft a solid plan and successfully implement it during my Final Teaching demonstration! During my Final Teaching Demonstration, both my Coordinating Teacher and Mentor were there to evaluate my performance and provide valuable feedback.

Moving on to the sad part—the closing ceremony at SMAN 5. This was the official day that my program at SMAN 5 came to an end. During the ceremony, I shared my closing speech, and I couldn’t help but shed tears as I expressed my gratitude and emotions for everything I experienced there.

Another sad part was the official closing ceremony at the University of Bengkulu. It was a truly emotional moment, seeing all the people who had been part of my journey there.

Overall, it was a long but rewarding journey, much like sailing in the sea. How ironic it is that the program started with a big smile on my face, full of excitement but without a clear idea of what would unfold. And yet, I left with tears in my eyes, saying difficult goodbyes, but with a mind rich in new knowledge and unforgettable experiences.
